TOPIC: The Lord is Near When We Pray Psalm 145:1-21 (The Power of Praying through the Bible, p. 197)
“Do you experience times when God seems far away? Most of us do. The psalmist speaks for us when he cries out, ‘Why, O Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide ...
Our feelings may tell us that God is distant, but Scripture tells us otherwise. When we call to Him in prayer, God is near to us WHETHER WE FEEL IT OR NOT. At the same time, we might pray for something we need and fail to see an answer after weeks, months, or even years of passionate intercession.
WHY DOES GOD SO OFTEN CAUSE US TO WAIT FOR WHAT WE ARE SO SURE WE NEED RIGHT AWAY?
We may be denied certain things for a time because God wants us to fervently pray and intercede for them. He wants to do something great in response to our prayers, something that can only be birthed in prayer. There may be things that won’t happen in your life unless you are praying long and fervently about them.
If you start becoming discouraged and feel as if your life won’t ever be any different than it is at this moment, know that the truth is quite the opposite. It’s at these very times, when you feel as though you’re not getting anywhere or you’re missing the future God has for you, that God is actually PREPARING YOU for your future. And when the time is right, he has been known to do a very quick work.
Draw close to God in prayer, trusting that He is near. Thank Him that He hears your prayers and will answer in His perfect way.”
