
![]() Whenever I am going to pray with my grandchildren over the phone, I always say, "Assume the position." It's fun but it's also a reminder to get comfortable and focus on what we are going to do. I am thankful that there are no strict guidelines about what position we must take when praying. For instance, I cannot kneel for long (or at all) due to vein issues nor ... ![]() The beautiful autumn weather we’ve been experiencing has reminded me of an enjoyable October walk a few years ago during which I was interrupted by sounds of shuffling movement behind me. At one point, I became troubled by it and turned around. When I did, I was surprised to see that the sound was simply dry leaves swirling on the sidewalk from the wind. Those dead, dry leaves made so much noise that they got my attention, startled me, and even caused me to look back. For a few minutes they interrupted what I was doing and distracted me from the beauty around me. ![]() Celebrating Thanksgiving was a great reminder how the act of giving thanks changed my life. I remember the day clearly. I had been chronically ill for five years and was continuing to decline in health, both physically and emotionally. As I was going to ascend the basement stairs, they suddenly seemed impossible for me to climb. I was just too weak. I stood there staring hopelessly at the top and considered crawling up the stairs. It struck me that for some reason this was a pivotal moment for me, although I didn’t know why. ![]() It has been a couple years since I posted "The Five Finger Prayer" which provides a fantastic guide for prayer. It is back by popular demand! 8-) (I do not know who wrote it.) After the prayer, I have posted a link to "Teaching Kids the 5-Finger Prayer" which also includes a short, outstanding video blog for teaching pre-schoolers. YOU WILL LOVE IT. Let's get our children praying more! |
