We are all familiar with the Prayer of Petition. It is sharing our needs with the Lord and asking for His help in our situation. In fact, to petition God is basic to prayer.
Over the years I have met people who advised me ...
that they NEVER ask for anything for themselves as that just didn’t seem right. They are wrong! The Bible makes it absolutely clear that the Lord wants us to come to Him with our requests. He is our Father and He wants to bless us!
Jesus said in Matthew 7:7-11:
7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”
Our Heavenly Father wants us depending on Him for ALL our needs because, in so doing, we recognize that He loves us and wants to provide all that He has planned for us!
So, ask, seek and knock, bring your requests to Him! He already knows your needs (Matthew 6:8) but He wants to hear from you!
