The truth is closer than you think

Have you ever searched for an item only to find it was right under your nose the entire time?
Even though you knew what it looked and felt like, for some reason you didn’t see it.
During the early part of my life, I searched for something but didn’t know what it was. I just knew there was more to life.
Without realizing it, I tried finding it through different experiences, places and people, but to no avail.
The searching and longing did not stop until I started attending church for the first time at age 29 and gave my life to Jesus Christ.
I had vaguely heard of people giving their life to Jesus, but didn’t understand or believe it, so I was shocked to learn the truth and experience the transformation.
I wrote this poem, “His Path” during that time to express what happened:
I have traveled many pathways in life, from party girl to loner; businesswoman to wife.
I was sure at the time each path would provide the peace and the love I yearned for inside.
I followed each route with precision and care, and was shocked when I found that peace wasn’t there.
I’d given up hope when the Lord came to me, He showed me that His way was the way it should be.
He forgave me my sins - I started anew! He filled me with peace and love that is true.
Now I pray for His guidance each and every day, and the path that I follow has Him leading the way.
I realized later that during all the years of searching, yearning, and wondering, the answer was closer than I could imagine. The Lord was near, waiting for me to invite Him into my life.
It was so easy.
Do you sense there is something missing in your life?
The Lord is near to you, too.
Ask Him to come into your life and guide you on His path.
Begin reading the Bible, attending church, and you will experience His loving plan for your life.
“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth” – Psalm 145, verse 18.
